Tom Brady Reveals Why Retirement Is Here to Stay

Tom Brady, the legendary quarterback who has won seven Super Bowl championships, recently discussed why he won’t be making a second comeback to the NFL.

In a new episode of his SiriusXM podcast, Let’s Go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald, and Jim Gray, the topic of unretiring came up once again. Jimmy Donaldson, better known as Mr. Beast from YouTube, jokingly mentioned that his ratings would soar if Brady were to return to the game.

Brady’s response was quick and decisive. He firmly declared, “I am NOT coming out of retirement.” He acknowledged Mr. Beast’s clever idea but emphasized the primary reason for his decision – his family. Even Jim Gray, Brady’s co-host, attempted to convince him otherwise, but Brady stood his ground. He humorously added, “My parents and my kids would call. They would kill me. I wouldn’t be around by tonight.”

For those who need a little context, Brady initially retired from the NFL on February 1, 2022, after an impressive 22-year career. However, that retirement only lasted 40 days before he unretired and returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2022 season. He retired “for good” in the 2023 offseason, on February 1, 2023.

“As I said, you’re only allowed one un-retirement. And I’ve used it up,” Brady responded when Jim Gray suggested a more original idea to boost ratings. “So at this point, I’m just looking forward to being in more of your videos because my kids don’t think I’m s–t,” Brady expressed to Mr. Beast.

Brady acknowledged Mr. Beast’s influence on the younger community and how his three children – John ‘Jack’ Edward Thomas, Benjamin Rein, and Vivian Lake – would likely listen to Mr. Beast before listening to their father. “Jimmy’s the one that’s got their attention. So if he tells them to do something, he’s got a lot more influence than I do. So I’m actually trying to stay on their good side,” Brady added, implying a potential future collaboration between himself and Mr. Beast.

Mr. Beast’s YouTube Show Extends an Invite to Tom Brady

Just imagine the incredible collaboration between Tom Brady, the current G.O.A.T. of YouTube, and one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. It would undoubtedly be legendary, and it wouldn’t even matter what they decide to do – people from all around the world would be eager to tune in.

If this collaboration sparks your interest, don’t hold your breath because the wheels are already in motion. During one of his recent podcasts, Mr. Beast invited Tom Brady to be a contestant in one of his YouTube videos and even provided a preview of what this collaboration might look like.

“Yeah, come on down. It’d be fun to have you as a contestant. Imagine my viewers, they just click on a video, and it’s like a hundred people competing, and then suddenly it’s Tom Brady. They’d be like, what the heck? It’d be so funny,” Mr. Beast explained. Doesn’t that sound like something you would watch?

Tom Brady seemed to like the idea but with one condition – they should choose a competition that highlights his strengths. He exclaimed, “I’ll do it. We just gotta make a competition that I’m somewhat decent at. You can’t bury me alive or something like that!” Retirement hasn’t dampened his competitive spirit, and he still strives to win at everything he does.
