With an incredible 90 inches of flowing brown locks, she has become known as the “real-life Rapunzel.” But this remarkable journey hasn’t been easy—it has taken her two decades of dedication to achieve such extraordinary hair length.
Alia, a Latvian-born beauty, has always had a deep love for luxurious, long hair. From the heroines in her favorite fairy tales to her childhood dreams, she always admired those flowing locks. Today, she proudly declares herself a “Queen of super long hair” and works as a hair model, showcasing her extraordinary asset.
A Hair Care Regimen Fit for a Queen
Maintaining hair of such length requires utmost care and dedication. For Alia, taking care of her hair has become a full-time job, and she meticulously ensures that her locks remain healthy and beautiful. Her routine involves an hour of daily washing and a whole day dedicated to air drying. When she leaves her home, she carries a special bag filled with 22 pounds of liquids, including shampoo, conditioner, and other hair accessories.
To keep her hair in top shape, Alia even performs exercises on a yoga mat. While her husband, Ivan Balaban, adores her gorgeous dark locks, he always makes a conscious effort to avoid causing any damage. He even talks to the hair braid respectfully and gives it the space it needs.
An Extraordinary Beauty with Extraordinary Challenges
Having hair that sweeps the ground behind you is no easy feat. Alia recalls a childhood incident when someone accidentally left gum in her hair during a theater performance, resulting in a hair emergency. To resolve the issue, she had to cut out a clump of hair, as it had become too entangled to remove the gum. Such incidents serve as a reminder of the challenges that come with having extremely long hair.
It’s worth noting that Alia does not currently hold the record for the longest hair. That honor goes to China’s Xie Qiuping, who began growing her hair in 1973 when she was just 13 years old. According to the Guinness World Records, Xie’s hair stretches an astonishing 18 feet 5 inches, which is nearly as long as an adult male giraffe!
