Pat Sajak talks about his urgent procedure. He believed he would pass away due to the intense pain.

“Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak opens up about having emergency surgery for a clogged intestine a month ago.

In his first interview following the procedure, Sajak admitted to “Good Morning America” that he believed he would pass away just before the surgery.

The game show presenter started experiencing “excruciating” agony in November while taking his daughter on a daily stroll. A few hours later, he was on the verge of surgery while doubled over in pain.

“I was lying on the bed in the fetal position,” he remarked. “They use a variety of drugs to try to manage your discomfort. None of it — not a single thing — worked.”

The anguish was then wiped from his mind, he claimed, after being given a medication by his doctors.

“All of a sudden, I wasn’t thinking about the discomfort,” he said. “I suddenly experienced a face coming out of these wonderful hues.”

“I could hear my daughter and wife talking in the background. They were standing next to me, but they seemed miles away,” he said. “They were talking to each other. I remember saying, without being morbid, ‘I guess this must be death.’”

He claimed that he was concerned about his wife and children at the time and felt sorry for them since they would “have to deal with the aftermath.”

Sajak, of course, lived through the procedure. Thus his fears of dying were baseless.

“It turns out I was only stoned,” he laughed.

The surgery performed by Sajak was “totally successful.”

He claimed that doctors had found no underlying reason for the intestinal blockage. He, therefore, doesn’t need to change his way of life.

“Since a few weeks ago, I’ve been feeling fantastic,” Sajak said. “I’ve begun working on concerts in the studio again. Nothing popped even after the wheel was spun. Therefore, in my opinion, everything is OK.”

Sajak’s longtime co-host, Vanna White, filled in for him while he was recovering. In the interview, Sajak made light of his concern that she might replace him as the show’s main host.

He said, “I learned she enjoys hosting, and I’m a little nervous.”

Sajak cracks jokes but appears comfortable in his position on “Wheel of Fortune.”

“I still have my wits about me,” he declared. They left that in place, so I’ll keep selling vowels for a very long time.

After Pat Sajak’s announcement of retirement from the beloved game show, Wheel of Fortune, the question on everyone’s mind was: who would be the next host? Speculations ranged from Vanna White taking over to the possibilities of an unknown face or someone known for their tremendous work ethic. However, it has been officially revealed that Ryan Seacrest will be stepping into the role as the new host of Wheel of Fortune.

In a statement, Ryan Seacrest expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to succeed Pat Sajak, who has been the host of the syndicated edition of Wheel of Fortune since 1983. Seacrest humbly acknowledged Sajak’s tremendous contribution to the show, stating, “I’m truly humbled to be following in the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak.

For 40 years, Pat and Vanna have brought joy and laughter into our homes every night, making us feel right at home. Pat, I admire how you always praised the contestants and made the audience feel at ease. As we go through this transition, I’m excited to learn from you and continue the wheel-spinning legacy.”
