If you’re a fan of classic TV shows, chances are you’ve heard the name Norman Lear. This legendary TV writer and producer was the creative force behind some of the most iconic shows that shaped our childhoods, like The Jeffersons, All in the Family, and Good Times, just to name a few.

According to The Washington Post, Lear revolutionized the sitcom genre by infusing it with thought-provoking social commentary and hilariously blunt dialogue. He introduced us to unforgettable characters like Archie Bunker, Fred Sanford, Maude Findlay, and George Jefferson, who became archetypes of comedy and social satire.

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Lear’s passing at the remarkable age of 101. Lear’s spokesperson confirmed his peaceful passing on December 5th. While we mourn his loss, we remember the incredible legacy he leaves behind.
