Leah Remini is devastated.

Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis Presley’s only child, and a singer-songwriter died on Thursday after suffering a medical emergency and being hospitalized briefly.

“Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are startled and devastated by the sudden departure of their beautiful Lisa Marie,” Priscilla Presley’s representative said in a statement. “They beg for privacy during this difficult time and are deeply grateful for everyone’s love, support, and prayers.”

Priscilla Presley stated that her daughter was receiving medical treatment but did not provide further details.

Ms. Presley, the daughter of one of history’s most famous performers, followed in her father’s footsteps. She recorded three albums where she tried to find her rock style while paying tribute to the guy who combined blues, gospel, pop, and country to change the American musical landscape permanently.

Her father’s incredible history had been with her her entire life. She praised him again at the Golden Globes on Tuesday, telling Extra TV that Austin Butler, who received the lead drama acting award for his work in Baz Luhrmann’s biopic “Elvis,” had precisely nailed her father’s persona.

“I was astounded,” said Ms. Presley, who was nine years old when her father died in 1977. “Because it was so true and honest, it took me about five days to comprehend it.”

The Golden Globes issued the following statement on Twitter on Thursday night: “We are incredibly saddened to learn about Lisa Marie Presley’s passing. She was a great singer and songwriter who received a standing ovation Tuesday at the Golden Globes. “May you rest in peace.”

“I’m devastated by Lisa Marie Presley’s passing,” Leah Remini said on Twitter. Contrary to popular belief, Lisa’s life was not easy. She has reconciled with her father and son. My deepest sympathies go out to her mother, Priscilla, and her three daughters, Riley, Finley, and Harper.”

According to the Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Ms. Presley was visiting Graceland on Sunday to celebrate her father’s 88th birthday.

Elvis and his daughter were close, and Elvis once took the child to Idaho since she had never seen snow. Her father’s 1958 Convair 880 private plane was nicknamed “The Lisa Marie” by her father.

Ms. Presley possessed both Graceland’s and her father’s belongings. She also owned 15% of Elvis Presley Enterprises.

But, unlike her father, who climbed fast to fame in music, she never did. On the other hand, his influence can be observed in some of her phrases and songs. “Someone turned out the lights in Memphis,” she sings in the bluesy, mournful song “Lights Out” from her debut album “To Whom It May Concern,” released in 2003.

In 2018, she co-produced an album honoring Elvis Presley’s love of gospel music, and she sang on one of the songs alongside a recording of him.

“I was moved while singing,” she stated in an interview.

She was nonetheless well-known because of her surname. Her links to celebrities further added to that impression.

She was married to Michael Jackson from 1994 to 1996. Because one was the daughter of the king of rock ‘n’ roll and the other was known as the king of pop, the combo drew a lot of attention and cameras. She married actor Nicolas Cage in 2002, but the marriage lasted only four months.

She married musician Danny Keough in 1988 before marrying Mr. Jackson. After six years of marriage, they divorced. Their two children were actress Riley Keough and Benjamin Keough, who committed suicide at 27 in 2020. Finley and Harper Lockwood were born during her recent marriage to Michael Lockwood.

On Thursday, celebrities paid tribute to Ms. Presley online. “We’ve lost another shining star,” Oscar winner Octavia Spencer said on Twitter.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said early Thursday that it responded to a call about a Calabasas, California, woman who was “not breathing.” Still, it did not elaborate on her condition. Roger Widynowski, Ms. Presley’s representative, was unavailable Thursday night.

When the deputies came, the paramedics administered CPR and checked the patient’s health, according to the authorities. “When they confirmed the woman was breathing, they promptly rushed her to a nearby hospital for more medical attention.” Within hours, her death was announced.

In the foreword to the book “The United States of Opioids: A Prescription for Liberating a Nation in Pain,” Ms. Presley revealed her journey with addiction.

Ms. Presley wrote in a People magazine editorial published in 2022 that death, pain, and loss had plagued her life since she was a youngster. She further claimed that the death of Mr. Keough had devastated her and her three daughters.

She claimed that “grief does not finish or go away in any way” a year or so after the loss. You will have to carry grief for the rest of your life, regardless of what certain people or our culture would have us believe.
