Kevin Costner shares his thoughts on love and life after divorce

In a touching reveal, Kevin Costner opens up about staying optimistic about love despite his recent divorce. The Oscar winner and director of ‘Horizon’ is embracing life’s changes while keeping his heart open.

While Costner’s split from Christine Baumgartner had its challenges, he continues to put his children first and has navigated the past year with resilience.

“You just do it,” says Costner, 69, describing his approach to life following Baumgartner’s divorce filing in May 2023.

He explains, “You keep talking, coaching the kids, and staying involved in what they care about … I had to,” reflecting on his role as a father of seven.

Nonetheless, Costner — who shares custody of his three youngest kids, sons Cayden, 17, and Hayes, 15, and daughter Grace, 14, with Baumgartner — hasn’t given up on love.

When asked about the possibility of finding love again, Costner remarks, “Yeah, I think everybody would like to be in love. There’s a great feeling that comes with it. It might need to be seen in a different light, but I do cherish that hope.”

He continues, “I’m not going to let anything harden my heart,” expressing optimism for future romantic endeavors.

The ‘Field of Dreams’ actor, who also has four adult children — Annie, 40, Lily, 37, Joe, 36, and Liam, 27 — has been channeling his energies into his film project, Horizon: An American Saga. This grand Western epic, funded in part by Costner himself, hits theaters on June 28.

Reflecting on his journey, the California native says, “I’ve had an extraordinary — mostly wonderful — life. I’ve taken big risks, and life has dealt me some blows, too. But I haven’t hardened, and I don’t plan to.”

He firmly believes that his greatest legacy is his children. “It’s really all about the kids,” Costner emphasizes. “I’m still teaching my children, and, frankly, I’m still learning from them.”
