A Minnesota family witnessed an event that forever changed their life. They adopted Joy, a pit bull mix, from an animal shelter two years ago. He got along well with everyone in the family, especially their two children, Emilly, 6, and Jonas, 10. The children and the dog were always together. They went on hikes together, played all day, and slept in the same bed at night.

Jonas told his family one evening that he would bathe before coming downstairs. The rest of the family remained in the backyard. At one point, the child’s mother heard some strange noises.

When she got inside, she noticed the sounds coming from upstairs. As she ascended, she could hear the household dog, Joy, barking loudly. When the lady entered the bathroom, she found Jonas unconscious, his feet dangling over the bathtub’s edge. Joy pulled on his hands or hair in an attempt to free him.

Jonas passed out in the bath water after suffering a heart attack. Joy knew something was wrong and forced the bathroom door open, rushing to pull Jonas out of the bathtub.

The mother was scared the first time she saw Jonas trying to breathe and Joy pulling on him. She soon realized, however, that the dog was merely trying to save his life by keeping him from slipping into the bathtub and drowning.

The wife immediately contacted 911, and the ambulance arrived shortly thereafter. The medics took Jonas to the hospital and saved his life.
Jonas is alive today because of Joy.

“Without Joy, I wouldn’t want to think about what could happen to Jonas. Joy saved my son’s life, and we shall be eternally grateful. “He will surely be rewarded with many steaks,” his mother predicted.
