Jesus said to his disciples, it is not enough to ignore insults and injuries dished out by others, you must also, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you”. Jesus came into this world to save sinners, and they are likely to be found among our enemies. It is they, who are in greatest need of our prayers.
Jesus used other illustrations to emphasise his point saying:
Your Heavenly Father makes:
– his sun rise on the bad and the good,
– and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.
So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Love is a very powerful quality, showing real kindness, praying for our enemies and responding to evil with good, is Jesus’ everyday invite to us. (Matthew 5:43-48, Luke 6:27-28)
Love is creative and character building. Keep spreading it. Enjoy God’s wondrous friendship.
Lord Jesus, open my eyes to my enemies, grant me the grace to forgive and fill them with your love.
PRAYER: LOVE (1 CORINTHIANS 13:4-7)
Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts,
always hopes and always perseveres.
