Being the child of famous parents can be challenging, constantly under the scrutiny of the public eye. Such is the case for Jennifer Lopez’s children, Emme and Maximilian. They often choose to avoid spending too much time together as a family, seeking privacy and independence.

In a recent interview with Vogue, Lopez shared that her children sometimes prefer to stay away from her. She recounted an incident where one of her kids wanted to go to the market, but didn’t want either her or her partner, Ben Affleck, to accompany them due to the attention it would generate.

“They said, ‘You know, it’s such a thing when you go, Mom.’ It hurt my feelings. I get it,” expressed Lopez. “They want time with their friends when they aren’t being watched, followed, and photographed. It’s a thing. Nobody’s complaining, but it’s a thing.”

Lopez also acknowledged that her new marriage has been a delicate adjustment for her children. She emphasized the importance of handling this transition with care, considering their emotional well-being.

“The transition is a process that needs to be handled with so much care,” Lopez said. “They have so many feelings. They’re teens. But it’s going really well so far. What I hope to cultivate with our family is that his kids have a new ally in me, and my kids have a new ally in him. Someone who really loves and cares about them but can offer a different perspective and help me see things that I can’t because I’m so emotionally tied up.”

Children of celebrities often find it difficult to balance their desire for privacy with their parents’ fame. Jennifer Lopez’s children, Emme and Maximilian, are no exception. In an interview with Vogue, Lopez revealed that her kids sometimes choose to maintain distance from her, seeking independence and time with their friends away from the constant public attention.

As a parent, Lopez understands their need for personal space and respects their wishes. She recognizes that being constantly watched, followed, and photographed can be overwhelming for them. She shared an incident where her child wanted to go to the market but didn’t want her or her partner, Ben Affleck, to accompany them due to the attention it would attract. Lopez expressed that although it hurt her feelings, she understands and supports their desire for autonomy.

In addition to the challenges posed by media exposure, Jennifer Lopez also acknowledged the difficulty her children faced in adjusting to her new marriage. As a blended family, she emphasized the importance of approaching the transition with sensitivity and care. Despite the complexities, Lopez believes that her marriage with Affleck is going well so far, and she aims to foster a supportive environment where all the children involved feel loved and understood.
