His eldest child shared a touching memory
It doesn’t take a huge Eminem fan to know he’s the dad of daughter Hailie. The now married 28-year-old has been the muse for much of Slim Shady’s music, from ‘Hailie’s Song’ to ‘Hailie’s Revenge’.
But Eminem is also a father to two other children, one of whom has managed to remain relatively unnoticed as they grew up.
Eminem shares all three kids with his ex-wife Kim Scott. Alaina Scott, his eldest at 31, was born to Kim’s sister Dawn. The ‘Without Me’ rapper adopted her in the early 2000s, as her mother struggled with drug issues before passing away in 2016.
Alaina is also featured in his work, notably mentioned in ‘Mockingbird’: “Lainey, uncle’s crazy ain’t? Yeah, but he loves you, girl and you better know it.”
Then there’s Stevie Laine Scott, who’s 22, born to Kim with her then-boyfriend, Eric Hartter, between her two marriages with Eminem. When Kim and Eminem reunited, he legally adopted Stevie in 2005.
In 2021, Stevie, the youngest, came out as non-binary, sharing their journey in a heartfelt TikTok.
Of all the children, it seems Stevie may have enjoyed some typical youngest-child privileges.
In an episode of Hailie’s Just a Little Shady podcast, Alaina and Hailie talked about how Stevie appeared to get away with more growing up, compared to the stricter upbringing the older sisters experienced.
Alaina reminisced about always getting in trouble as the eldest. She cited her sixth-grade birthday party (around 11-12 years old) where she wasn’t allowed to wear a two-piece bathing suit. She laughingly said, “Stevie came out the womb in a two-piece bathing suit, basically!”
Eminem’s tradition of mentioning his kids in his songs continued with his latest track ‘Houdini’. He didn’t just name-check them; he included all three in the music video.
In the video, during a part where he vents his frustrations, he even exclaims: “F**k my own kids, they’re brats.” The kids appear in the video, shocked by their dad’s outburst.
The relationship between Eminem and his children appears complicated yet full of love, reflected in both his music and their interactions. For fans, it’s a glimpse into the personal life of Eminem that’s as complex as his lyrics.
