Dolly Parton criticized for looking “cheap” and “ugly”

Dolly Parton has lived a long and incredibly successful life in the limelight.

The iconic singer’s talents have spanned decades and styles. She’s been a beloved figure at the top of the entertainment world for as long as most of us can remember.

Yet, even someone as legendary as Dolly Parton faces her critics. Recently, a few detractors have been vocal about her looks—even though she’s nearing her eighties. This took a big toll on her.

More About Dolly

Dolly Parton, now 77, is a household name in both country music and the celebrity world.

The Tennessee native has truly become a legend, and despite a lifetime of performing and singing, she remains devoted to entertaining her countless fans.

In a recent interview with Pollystar, Dolly shared that she would no longer be touring. She explained:

“I’ll do special shows here and there, now and then. Maybe do a long weekend of shows, or just a few shows at a festival. But I have no intention of going on a full-blown tour anymore.”

For someone who rose from poverty in the Appalachian Mountains to reach the pinnacle of global entertainment, Dolly will surely be missed on stage.

Despite her enduring popularity, there are still those who criticize her appearance.

Throughout her career, Dolly’s looks have often been a topic of conversation. She has recalled moments when people advised her to abandon her signature style if she wanted to succeed.

“The main advice people wanted to give me was to change my look—go simpler with my hair and the way I dress,” she explained.

“Not to look so cheap. Nobody was ever going to take me seriously, they would say.”

Sadly, disparaging comments haven’t disappeared over the years. In fact, some people seem more determined to unfairly label Dolly.

One Twitter user wrote: “Dolly Parton is one ugly lady,” while another said: “Dolly Parton is so ugly, but she got nice breasts.”

Despite the unkindness and vitriol online, Dolly stays positive and defiant. She’s comfortable with her body and appearance, and isn’t about to change for anyone.

“It costs a lot of money to look this cheap,” she famously said.

Her husband has also shown unwavering support and love. Dolly has revealed that he adores her no matter what.

“He doesn’t care if I’m fat,” said Parton.

“He was never turned off. He’s fool enough to think I’m the sexiest, prettiest woman in the world.”

Unsurprisingly, Dolly remains eager for success and fresh challenges. According to Rolling Stone, she’s ready to embrace her 2022 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and wants to honor it with an album that might surprise her fans.

Last year, fans were thrilled to learn that Dolly was in the running for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, given her extraordinary career.

However, sources suggest that the superstar herself was initially hesitant to be considered. Dolly felt that given her primarily country music career, others might be more suited for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In the end, the public and voters decided that Dolly did deserve the honor. In November, she was officially inducted into the Hall of Fame and has since worked to prove her worthiness of this recognition.

I don’t care what anyone says, I think Dolly Parton is immensely talented!
