Channing Tatum Eager to Star in 23 Jump Street After Reading ‘Best Script Ever’

Channing Tatum has expressed his hopes for a third Jump Street movie and whether he’d be a part of it.

The first installment, 21 Jump Street, hit theaters in 2012, followed by a sequel just two years later. However, it’s been a decade since fans last saw Schmidt [Jonah Hill] and Jenko [Tatum], and many are still eagerly awaiting 23 Jump Street.

Over the years, rumors have swirled about potential storylines, including a reported crossover between 21 Jump Street and Men In Black. Despite the buzz, this idea revealed back in 2016 never advanced beyond the initial stages.

Tatum remained hopeful, saying, “I still think it could work, I really do,” in an interview with Collider in 2022. “If Sony would ever really, like, do the hard work and figure out the producer problems that are inherent with that film, I think we can still do it.”

Recently, Tatum shared his enthusiasm after reading a captivating script, stating, “There is a project that was written and it’s still the best script that I’ve ever read for a third movie.”

When asked why the project hadn’t materialized almost a decade ago, Tatum explained, “It’s just a lot of bureaucracy, kind of above the line stuff. It’s really hard to get it made and we’ve been trying to get it done.”

Remaining optimistic, Tatum sent out positive vibes to make 23 Jump Street a reality. “You know what, I’m going to put some good juju out there and I’m going to say I would love to see 23 Jump Street,” he said. “I would love to do it with Jonah, and Jonah I know wants to do it. We would love to just get to go play again.”

For those curious about the famous script, Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller shared details on the Happy Sad Confused podcast in 2022. “There was, believe it or not, a Men In Black/Jump Street crossover script that was very funny and very crazy that we really adored,” Miller revealed.

“Basically, the idea was Jonah and Channing, a thing happened while they were doing their medical school adventure that got them embroiled into the world of Men In Black, and that got them teaming up to stop an alien takeover type of thing. It was very funny.”

The exact reasons why the crossover movie never got off the ground are still unclear. Nonetheless, fans and Tatum alike hold onto the hope that 23 Jump Street will eventually hit the big screen.
