Simone Ashley recently shared some exciting news about the future of her character Kate and Anthony’s role in the series, and it sounds promising.

In ‘Bridgerton,’ each season revolves around a new couple’s story, much like in the original books. After their featured season, couples either blend into the background or leave entirely. For instance, after Season 1, Regé Jean-Page, who played Simon Basset, departed from the series and hasn’t come back. Similarly, Phoebe Dynevor returned as Daphne just for Season 2.

Season 2 saw Anthony and Kate tying the knot, and they continued to appear in several episodes throughout Season 3. Simone Ashley recently hinted at whether they would return as the new Lord and Lady Bridgerton for Season 4.

‘Bridgerton’ cast reveal which character they would marry

In an interview at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, Simone shared her thoughts: “Both Johnny and I adore our characters, Kate and Anthony, so much and love their relationship and what they mean for the show. We’ll do all we can with our schedules to make it work so that we can hopefully return,” she said.

Adding to the excitement, Bridgerton’s showrunner Jess Brownell told Teen Vogue that Kate and Anthony have not been written off the show entirely. Their storyline involving a trip to India in Season 3 leaves the possibility open for their return.

“Sending them off to India gives the flexibility to bring them back, depending on schedules,” Jess explained. “Even with just tiny little looks and gestures, they contribute so much. They are a magical pairing, indeed.”

Jess further added, “Understandably, when our lead actors dedicate a significant part of their lives to a season, we want to support them as they explore other projects. It wouldn’t be fair to have them return just as background characters.” Jess concluded, “We love Jonny and Simone and will have them back as much as we can.”
