Are Kate and Anthony Returning for ‘Bridgerton’ Season 4? What the Showrunner Teased About the ‘Magic Pairing’

“We love Jonny [Bailey] and Simone [Ashley], and we’ll have them back as much as we are able to,” said showrunner Jess Brownell.

Kate and Anthony’s trip to India won’t keep them away from high society forever — especially if ‘Bridgerton’ showrunner Jess Brownell has anything to say about it.

In a June chat with Teen Vogue, Brownell mentioned that “the door is open” for the adored season 2 couple to make a return in season 4, provided that the in-demand stars Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey can squeeze it into their busy schedules.

“We love Jonny and Simone and we’ll have them back as much as we are able to,” Brownell remarked. “Their performances, even with just the smallest looks and gestures, are magical together.”

In season 3, we see Kate and Anthony expecting their first child. Anthony decides it’s important for them to travel to India so that their child can understand and embrace both their Sharma and Bridgerton heritage.

Fans applauded Anthony’s commitment to their baby’s blended heritage. However, some worried on social media that sending the couple to India might mean they wouldn’t be part of future seasons.

Brownell reassured these fans by stating, “Sending them to India is a smart move as it leaves room for their return, depending on schedules.”

Brownell added, “We understand that after starring in a lead role for a season, our actors have other commitments. Asking them to return just to be in the background is not fair to their careers.”

During a press meeting at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival in Monaco on June 15, 29-year-old Simone Ashley expressed her and co-star Jonathan Bailey’s dedication to their characters. “Johnny and I adore our characters, Kate and Anthony, and their relationship. We will do everything we can with our schedules to make a return possible,” she said.

Ashley continued, “Both Johnny and I adore our characters, Kate and Anthony, and their relationship. We will try our best to return for season 4.”

Fans of the series will have to be patient, as no official announcement has been made regarding a spinoff or the lead for season 4. According to reports by The Hollywood Reporter, ‘Bridgerton’ may not return until 2026.

You can catch up on all three seasons of ‘Bridgerton’ now streaming on Netflix.
