A Single Dad’s Journey: From Adoption to Olympic Champion

Jerry Windle, a single homosexual man, was told by many that he would never be a parent. But life had a different plan for him, and his story is a testament to the power of love and determination.

An Unexpected Turn of Events

Jerry’s life took a dramatic turn when he decided to adopt an ill child. Although he had never imagined himself as a father, his merciful heart led him down this path. Little did Jerry know that this decision would change his life forever.

The Olympic Dream Begins

At the young age of seven, the adopted child, Jordan, discovered his passion for diving. He caught the attention of Tim O’Brien, the son of renowned diving coach Ron O’Brien, at a diving camp. With Tim’s guidance, Jordan enrolled in a specialized diving school and started to showcase his talent.

During this time, Jordan also had the opportunity to meet Greg Louganis, an Olympic gold medalist and LGBT activist. Louganis, fondly known as “Little Louganis,” became an inspiration to Jordan, igniting his Olympic dreams even further.

Father and Son: Through Thick and Thin

The bond between father and son grew stronger with each passing year. Jerry became Jordan’s biggest supporter, attending every competition and cheering him on. Their relationship became the cornerstone of Jordan’s success and resilience.

As Jordan competes for the United States in the Olympics today, his heart carries another flag – that of Cambodia. In a symbolic gesture, he recently got the Cambodian flag tattooed on his arm, proudly displaying his heritage to the world.

A Story of Love and Family

In 2011, Jerry and Jordan co-authored a heartwarming children’s book called “An Orphan No More: The True Story of a Boy.” The book tells the tale of a rooster who, despite being told by other animals that he couldn’t be a father without a hen, finds an egg that no one wants. From this egg hatches a duckling, and together, they prove that love creates family, no matter our differences.

Jerry’s journey as a single father, and Jordan’s journey as an Olympic champion, remind us of the power of love, resilience, and the beauty of unconventional families. Their story is an inspiration to all those who dare to defy societal norms and follow their dreams.
