Being a potential King doesn’t mean you’re not a typical youngster at heart. Just ask Prince George, who harbours aspirations that are refreshingly down-to-earth.
In a charming exchange in Norfolk recently, Desmond MacCarthy, a local landowner, shared some delightful news about Prince George’s visit to Whiveton Hall Café. Accompanied by his mother, Kate Middleton, and friends, they were not too far from their country retreat, the picturesque Anmer Hall.
Browsing the café’s kitchen, George’s curiosity was piqued by a wood-fired pizza oven, sparking an unexpected career revelation. MacCarthy recounts, “Once George saw it, he exclaimed, ‘That’s what I want to do when I grow up!’” Who knew the path to royalty might meander through a pizzeria?
It’s plausible, especially since George is not required to follow the military tradition of his father and grandfather. This divergence opens up new possibilities for the young prince, perhaps one where he can wear a chef’s hat instead of a crown—at least for a little while.
Besides cooking, Prince George, who stands second in line to England’s throne, enjoys a wealth of hobbies that keep his days varied and full. Recently, his father, Prince William, let slip another engaging pastime of his son during a visit to Birtley Community Pool in Tyne and Wear.
“George loves scuba diving. We gave it a go, expecting him to be a bit apprehensive at first. To our delight, he loved every moment beneath the waves,” William disclosed to Olympic swimmers Adam Peaty and Tom Dean. “It’s just another way for him to connect with the wonders of the world.”
Through these pursuits, it’s clear Prince George is paving his unique path to adulthood. Whether crafting pizzas or exploring underwater worlds, he is blending regal responsibilities with a slice of everyday joy, much like any youngster his age. And who knows? In the kitchen or underwater, Prince George is already proving that there’s more to him than just future sovereign duties.
