Kelly Clarkson Credits Anti-Depressants for Helping Her Navigate Divorce: “I Need Your Help”

Kelly Clarkson, the renowned talk show host, recently revealed that she turned to anti-depressants to cope with the emotional turmoil of her divorce from Brandon Blackstock. During a therapy session, she found herself unable to control her tears, leading her to seek additional support.

“I couldn’t stop crying,” Clarkson shared candidly. “It was one of those moments where I had to humble myself and put aside any pride I had from my earlier years.”

The Grammy-winning artist disclosed that she relied on Lexapro, an anti-depressant, for a period of two months. This decision proved to be a crucial turning point for her well-being. “I was unhappy, unable to put on a smile for America. I needed help, and taking Lexapro was the best choice I ever made. Without it, I don’t think I would have been able to overcome this challenging phase.”

Kelly Clarkson’s divorce with Blackstock, 46, was officially finalized in March 2022 after she filed for divorce in 2020. The couple share two children, River Rose, 9, and Remington “Remy” Alexander, 7. Her latest album, “Chemistry,” draws inspiration from their relationship.

Nurturing Her Children’s Musical Journey

During a recent podcast interview, Clarkson stated that her children primarily listen to her music, albeit with adult themes. “I don’t play my songs around my kids,” she shared. “When my daughter requested to hear ‘Whole Lotta Woman,’ I was surprised that she knew the song. But she actually wanted to say a word that had a censored version in the lyrics. I allowed her to sing it, but only when we were together.”

Clarkson emphasized that her kids enjoy music from other artists as well, such as Harry Styles and Aurora.

Exploring Deep Emotions Through Music

Ahead of the release of her album “Chemistry,” Clarkson appeared on TODAY and reflected on a “little text exchange” she had with Blackstock regarding the album’s content. She expressed her desire to showcase the multi-faceted nature of their relationship.

“I didn’t want to reduce our story to just one thing,” she recalled. “Our journey includes both beauty and pain. It’s deeply personal, and I’ve always released songs that reflect my own experiences. Becoming a parent made me question how I wanted to navigate this chapter of my life.”

Through her music, Kelly Clarkson has found solace and a pathway to explore her emotions, inviting listeners to connect with their own experiences.
