Illegal Border Crossings Drop for 5th Straight Month, Reaching Lowest Levels Since Joe Biden Took Office

Quick, someone alert the press! Oh wait, they already know. The Biden-Harris administration’s efforts to bolster border security have led to some impressive results. We’ve hit the lowest monthly tally of unlawful entries since September 2020. Let’s stop and appreciate that for a minute, shall we?

Somewhere, a CBP officer is doing a happy dance. Illegal crossings along the United States’ southwest border reached a fresh low for Joe Biden’s presidency in July. Early reports show we’re sitting pretty at around 57,000 migrant apprehensions for the month. Compare that to last December’s staggering 250,000 attempts, and you might just pop a celebratory bottle of something bubbly.

Let’s flashback to yesteryear: The anticipated July figures are so low, they give September 2020 numbers a run for their money. And lo and behold, it’s even lower than the average monthly crossings under the previous administration. Awkward!

Now, marvel at the magic of these statistics. The monumental December tally had more than halved by January. Sure, February saw a minor hiccup, but the numbers have dipped every month since. Seems like Biden’s executive moves are working like a charm.

Let’s talk action plans. Nearly two months ago, Biden dropped a bombshell with executive actions blocking asylum for unauthorized entries. Think of it as a limited-time offer on a legal stay in the U.S. The White House released a statement explaining these measures would only kick in when the border is overloaded. So, don’t get too cozy; they’re temporary, folks.

Here’s the deal: When daily migrant arrests fall below 1,500 for a week, these actions will halt. But, if they spike to an average of 2,500, expect the old rules back in action. Kind of like that light switch in your room you can’t decide whether to turn on or off.

Let’s not forget the ghost of borders past. Remember Trump’s ‘big, beautiful wall’? He promised it’d be funded by Mexico. Spoiler: It wasn’t. Instead, we got reinforced old barriers and an incomplete project. Shockingly, it didn’t quite pan out as planned. But hey, it made for excellent campaign fodder.

Now, as Trump gears up for a potential reelection, he’s doubling down on the border narrative, labeling the Biden-Harris administration as weak on immigration. Cue those Heritage Foundation suggestions, like stripping temporary protected status from nearly 700,000 individuals. They’re basically saying, ‘Thanks for stopping by, now pack your bags.’

Buckling up for a wild ride through border policies and numbers has never been this entertaining. Whether you’re Team Biden or Team Trump, one thing’s for sure: border security isn’t leaving the headlines anytime soon.
