After arriving home late at night, a woman suddenly came face to face with a group of four robbers. However, despite being outnumbered, the men were no match for the well-prepared homeowner, who sent them running for their lives.

Across the U.S., many homeowners understand the importance of having a plan for the worst-case scenario: a home invasion. This becomes even more crucial for women living alone, as they can be seen as vulnerable targets. A Pennsylvania woman found herself in precisely this dangerous situation.

Philadelphia police began investigating a harrowing incident in the Upper Northwest part of the city. The crime occurred on the 4900 block of Germantown Avenue around 1 p.m., just as the woman was returning from a late night out.

According to the police, the woman walked into her apartment only to find four men rummaging through her belongings. While many might panic, this homeowner had prepared for exactly this kind of threat.

Reporters from WPVI shared that the woman confronted the burglars by pulling out her firearm and immediately using it. Without giving them a chance to react, she fired at the intruders, hitting at least two of them.

The robbers, clearly unprepared for such a defense, scrambled to escape. Two of them didn’t get very far before the police arrived, finding part of their job already done.

Officers discovered one man lying on the ground outside, guarded by the determined homeowner. The suspect, later identified as 48-year-old Jermaine Parker, had been shot twice and was unable to escape further. Emergency responders treated him on-site before transporting him to Einstein Medical Center.

As Parker was taken to the hospital, detectives started searching for the other suspects. Luckily, they didn’t need to look far. Around the corner on East Seymour Street, they found 45-year-old Randy Miller, suffering from a gunshot wound to his back. Abandoned by his accomplices, he was quickly apprehended.

Parker is expected to recover, while Miller was reported in stable yet critical condition. Both men were arrested and charged with burglary among other offenses. Meanwhile, authorities are still seeking the other two burglars.

Authorities haven’t confirmed if the other suspects were wounded, nor do they know why the woman’s home was targeted. However, they did confirm that she acted in self-defense and will not face any charges.
