Police allege the suspect killed his wife in 2022 before murdering dozens of other women
A suspected serial killer has been arrested in Kenya after allegedly confessing to killing 42 women, according to CBS News, CNN, and NBC News, which cite authorities.
The suspect, identified as Collins Jumaisi, 33, was described as a “psychopathic serial killer who has no respect for human life” by Kenya’s National Police, per CBS News.
On Monday, June 15, police allege Jumaisi confessed to the crimes after several bodies were found at a quarry in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, NBC News reports.
He was arrested at 3 a.m. outside of a club, where he went to watch the European Championship soccer final, according to a press release shared on social media.
It’s not clear if he has retained an attorney to comment on his behalf.

The man allegedly lived roughly 330 feet from the quarry, police also state.
According to NBC News, nine bodies have been recovered from the quarry. Mohammed Amin, chief of Directorate of Criminal Investigations, said in a televised statement reviewed by the outlet that the killings allegedly began with Jumaisi’s wife in 2022, with the most recent killing occurring on July 11, 2024.

Jumaisi allegedly confessed to strangling his wife to death before “dismembering her body and disposing it at the site,” Amin claimed, according to CNN. The suspect’s other alleged victims were “murdered in like manner,” Amin added.
Authorities said on Monday that “post-mortem examination is happening today” on the recovered nine bodies, CNN reports.

In a news conference on Sunday, July 14, police inspector general Douglas Kanja said that the nine bodies “were severely dismembered, in different states of decomposition, and left in sacks,” per CNN.
On Monday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation’s social media account shared a set of photos depicting the belongings they allegedly found in Jumaisi’s home, including 24 sim card holders, eight smartphones, one machete, 12 nylon sacks, six ID cards for men and 2 ID cards for two of his alleged victims.
The statement says Jumaisi was arrested following “forensic analysis” of a mobile phone that belonged to one of his alleged victims, and that “mobile money transactions conducted on the day she went missing pointed to the suspect.”
According to CBS, Amin stated that police “have a second suspect,” who allegedly had a handset from one of the victims. That second suspect was not named.
