Kerry Washington, 47, recently discovered that Tony Goldwyn, 64, is interested in having her join him on Law and Order. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he expressed his hopes of recruiting her, and Kerry was all ears when she heard the news for the first time.
“This is the first time I’m hearing that breaking news,” Washington shared. “Honestly, when Tony Goldwyn tells me to do something, usually the answer is yes. So we’ll just have to figure out the when and the how of it all.”
Washington and Goldwyn both starred in all 124 episodes of the beloved show Scandal, a Shonda Rhimes drama that aired for seven seasons on ABC, from 2012 through 2018.
Bringing these two favorites together on Law and Order could undoubtedly be a treat for fans. Goldwyn himself seems quite enthusiastic about the idea. “I’m all for it,” he told People. “I have been sort of needling her about it.”
It’s clear Goldwyn isn’t short of admiration for his new castmates on Law and Order either. His character joined the show in the second half of the latest season, and he commented about the experience being “really fun.”
This isn’t the first time that Washington and Goldwyn have talked about teaming up again to revive the fantastic chemistry they shared on Scandal. Washington previously expressed in June that she would be open to having Goldwyn or other Scandal stars appear on her current show, UnPrisoned, where she plays both lead and executive producer.
“From your mouth to God’s ears,” she said with excitement in an ET interview. “I would love to have our Scandal folks on here. I love our Scandal cast so much. So I’m always looking for opportunities to work with them and be with them.”
In UnPrisoned, Washington portrays Paige, a dedicated single mom and relationship therapist. The show revolves around her life as her father comes to live with her and her son after being released from prison. Fans can look forward to the second season, premiering July 17 on Hulu.
“Season 2 is really fun because we take on the challenge of family therapy. My dad and my son and I, we all go into therapy with a very, very hilarious and unconventional therapist,” Washington said. “He’s so funny and so endearing. Family therapy is hard, but we go for it.”
