The actor shared a clip of the sweet moment with his son on Instagram on Saturday, July 6
Like father, like son!
On Saturday, July 6, John Stamos posted a cute video showing that he had been joined by his son Billy, 6, onstage, as they played the drums together in concert with The Beach Boys on the band’s Endless Summer Gold 2024 Tour. The sweet moment came during the tour stop at Meadow Brook Amphitheatre in Michigan on Friday, July 5.
“Had a little help from my son BILLY on good vibrations last night,” Stamos wrote in the caption. “Wasn’t it nice! @thebeachboys.”
In the footage, Billy stood beside Stamos onstage wearing bright green headphones while banging on a drum beside his dad as the pair went into a drum solo together during The Beach Boys 1966 hit “Good Vibrations.”
Stamos shares son Billy with his wife Caitlin McHugh Stamos, whom he married in 2018.
Billy’s drumming skills at the Michigan show left concertgoers impressed as they wrote comments in praise of the six-year-old in response to the video.
“He did a great job! Loved seeing you live last night! Thanks for an amazing night! ❤,” one follower wrote in the comment section, as another said, “He stole the show last night!”
It’s not the first time the little boy has joined his father on stage during one of his performances with the legendary band. In March 2023, Billy made an appearance during a Beach Boys show and even helped his dad with playing the guitar.
Stamos is currently performing with the Beach Boys on their Endless Summer Gold Tour, celebrating the band’s 50th anniversary of their album of the same title, in a series of shows across the country.
The actor played his first set of shows with the band from May 30 to June 20, and then from July 5 to Sunday, July 7. He is set to return with the band in concert from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1, per ABC News.
In another touching video posted by Stamos, which appeared to be from his show with the Beach Boys at Everwise Amphitheater in Indianapolis on July 6, he got emotional onstage as he introduced a song in tribute to his late father, who died on July 6, 2001.
“I lost my father 23 years ago tonight,” he said to the audience in the clip while choking back tears. “And he’s with me tonight. Sorry … but, um, I’m grateful to be here and every moment counts …” Stamos added, before playing The Beach Boys’ song “Forever.”
Stamos has performed many times with the Beach Boys over the decades, dating back to 1985, per ABC News, and including as recently as 2022, before rejoining the band onstage this year.
The actor has a long history with the band after he also featured in the band’s 1992 music video for “Problem Child” and sang lead vocals on the updated version of their song “Forever” for the band’s album Summer in Paradise, released in the same year.
