Melissa Joan Hart Shares How Late ‘Sabrina’ Costar Martin Mull ‘Helped Cement My Work Ethic’

“His work ethic was only matched by his love for everyone he encountered,” Hart shares of her late ‘Sabrina’ costar Martin Mull.

Melissa Joan Hart is cherishing the impactful advice she once received from her dear friend and Sabrina the Teenage Witch costar, Martin Mull.

The 48-year-old actress reminisced about Mull, who recently passed away at the age of 80. She described him as “a beacon of positivity and an immense talent who made comedy look effortless.”

“His dedication to his craft was unparalleled, and it was clear he genuinely cared for everyone he met,” she shared. Mull, known for his role as Principal Willard Kraft on the show from 1997 to 2000, imparted invaluable wisdom to Hart during their time together. “I’ll always remember him saying to take every job that comes because, in this industry, you just never know when it might be your last.”

“This advice really solidified my work ethic, no matter the hardships. We were truly fortunate to have been part of his world during Sabrina,” she concluded.

Following the announcement of Mull’s passing by his daughter, Maggie Mull, on Instagram, Hart took to social media to share her heartfelt memories. Alongside an old photo of herself and Mull in costume, she wrote, “Rest in Peace, my friend. The incredible #MartinMull (Principal Kraft) has found eternal rest.”

She fondly remembered working with Mull and how she admired his extensive career, which included roles in Roseanne and Mr. Mom before Sabrina.

Hart applauded Mull for his numerous guest appearances on notable shows and in various films post-Sabrina.

Mull’s impressive career included memorable roles on Two and a Half Men, Arrested Development, The Ranch, and The Cool Kids. In 2016, he earned an Emmy nomination for his guest role on Veep. Among his film credits were Clue, Far Out Man, and Mrs. Doubtfire. He also made recent appearances in shows like Not Dead Yet, Grace and Frankie, and The Afterparty.

In her Instagram post, Hart also shared Mull’s reasoning for continuously accepting roles. “He once told me he took every job offered just in case the opportunities dried up, which happens quickly in show business,” she wrote. “He was not just an actor, but an artist who enjoyed painting, crafting, playing music, and above all, a wonderful man who enriched my life.”

The actress wrapped up her heartfelt message by expressing how Mull made the world a better place and how much he would be missed. “He will be missed, but his contributions have made the world a better place,” she wrote. “My deepest sympathies to his family and friends. I will continue to cherish the Martin Mull artwork displayed in my home!”
