Mich. Teen Went Missing in May. He Was Just Found Safe in Florida After Turning Up in Livestream

“We are working with local authorities to arrange his safe return to Michigan to be with his family,” police said of teenager Troy Coleman.

A Michigan teenager who had been missing since May was just found safe in Miami — and it all happened after he randomly turned up in a livestream.

The Flint Township Police Department first asked for the public’s help in finding Troy Coleman in a May 21 Facebook post.

“He was [last] seen leaving his house in Flint Township and possibly boarding an MTA bus. His friends and family have not heard from him and are growing concerned,” read the police’s message. “He is 6’4”, 180 lbs. with blue eyes and a scar above his left eye.”

Almost two months later, FaZe Lacy and a friend named Clix were doing a livestream on Twitch when an individual in green swim trunks appeared in their program and started talking to them, according to CBS affiliate WNEM. That person turned out to be Troy.

At the time, they had no idea who the stranger was, per CBS affiliate WKRC. Then his brother reached out to them.

In a social media post shared on July 3, Lacy wrote that they learned what was going on after receiving a message from the brother. “Now his family knows he is alive and in Miami,” Lacy wrote.

In another social media post the following day, Lacy wrote that they were able to make contact with Coleman’s family.

“We got into contact with his brother and told him what hotel [the teen] said he was staying at on stream,” Lacy wrote. “He has been found and placed in a holding cell in Miami until he gets transferred back to Michigan with his family. The power of the internet is insane, thank you guys ❤️.”

Police confirmed the discovery of Coleman in a July 4 Facebook post.

“The Flint Township Police Department would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everybody who shared the missing person information about Troy Coleman,” they wrote. “He has been found safe in Miami, Florida, and we are working with local authorities to arrange his safe return to Michigan to be with his family.”
