Miranda Cosgrove Teases Potential iCarly Movie Plans After Cancellation

Miranda Cosgrove doesn’t want iCarly fans to give up hope after the show’s cancellation.

The actress, 31, shared her optimism about an iCarly movie coming to fruition soon. Speaking to Variety, she said, “I’m pretty sure it’s gonna happen. So I’m excited, and I’d love to get to wrap up the story.”

Though Cosgrove didn’t share additional details, fans have shown their support on social media. This hopeful news comes a year after Paramount+ decided not to renew the revival series for another season.

iCarly initially aired on Nickelodeon from 2007 to 2012, propelling Cosgrove, Nathan Kress, Jennette McCurdy, and Jerry Trainor to fame. The series centered on Carly, a teenager who created and hosted her own web show with the help of her friends.

The show was such a success that two spinoffs were later created. Sam & Cat aired from 2013 to 2014 and followed McCurdy’s character, Sam, in a crossover project alongside Cat from Victorious, played by Ariana Grande. The second show featured Noah Munck‘s character, Gibby, in a self-titled sitcom that followed him as he worked at a recreation center as a mentor to middle school students. A pilot was filmed but never aired, and the series was never picked up.

iCarly’s Surprising Comeback

The show was revived by Paramount+ in 2021, set almost a decade after the original series. The reboot followed Carly as she restarted her web show, this time with her roommate Harper (Laci Mosley) and Freddie.

Fans were thrilled by the revival’s commitment to developing Freddie and Carly’s relationship that had been hinted at in the original series. After two seasons of buildup, the characters started dating, and fans watched them almost get married in what turned out to be the series finale.

Despite the excitement, Paramount+ canceled iCarly three months after the third season concluded.

Statements and Future Hopes

“iCarly will not be returning for a fourth season on Paramount+. The show enjoyed a great three-season run and fulfilled fans’ desires by bringing Carly and Freddie together,” a Paramount+ spokesperson told Us Weekly in October 2023. “We thank the cast, writers, directors, producers, and the entire crew for their dedication and talent.”

The series finale left fans in suspense with a surprise appearance by Carly’s mother, who had never been seen on the show before. Paramount+’s official account even ran a poll asking fans who they’d like to see in the role.

As fans eagerly await more news, it seems the iCarly journey may not be over just yet. Who knows? We might just see the gang back together in a movie, wrapping up the story in an exciting new way!
