The city struggles with a large number of stray dogs, many of which are captured, killed, and sold as part of the unsettling dog meat trade.

Unfortunately, Wang Yan did not find his lost dog there, but the experience moved him deeply.

Determined to make a change, he came up with an extraordinary plan—he purchased the slaughterhouse and transformed it into a sanctuary for these dogs!

As reported by Metro, the project has cost him a significant portion of his fortune. He bought the slaughterhouse for $400,000 and continues to fund the sanctuary himself, even if it means facing financial hardships.

Yan stated, “I don’t accept monetary donations; I only hope that kind-hearted people will donate supplies to help.”

His efforts have yielded wonderful results: by 2015, he had rescued 2,000 dogs from the city and facilitated the adoption of 200 of them.
