Martin crashed his BMW in a ditch off Country Road 122 in Minnesota on Monday morning, according to authorities.

A tragic accident has taken the life of Teigan Martin, a former University of South Florida (USF) football player, at the tender age of 20. Authorities reported that Martin’s BMW veered off Country Road 122 in Minnesota in the early hours of Monday, June 24.
Carver County Sheriff Jason Kamerud stated that deputies rushed to the scene following a 9-1-1 call about a vehicle crash after 5:00 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Martin’s 2013 BMW M5 in a ditch, with Martin being the only person in the car. Sadly, he was pronounced dead on the spot.
“The preliminary investigation found that Martin was driving east on Country Road 122 at high speed. He crossed over the westbound lane, entered the ditch, and the vehicle rolled,” said the statement. It was noted that he was wearing his seatbelt, though it remains uncertain if alcohol played any role in the crash.

The Carver County Sheriff’s Office is still examining the incident, and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy.
On Tuesday, USF expressed their sorrow on X (formerly known as Twitter), saying, “We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Teigan Martin. We extend our thoughts and prayers to Teigan’s family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.”
Teigan Martin was a reserve player for the USF Bulls during the 2023 season after previously spending the 2022 season at Liberty University, CBS Sports reported. According to Tampa Bay Times sports reporter Joey Knight, although Martin was no longer playing football at USF, he continued to attend classes there. His high school football career was at Mayer Lutheran in Mayer, Minnesota.
Martin’s brief life was full of promise, and he had just celebrated his 20th birthday on May 17. As per his obituary, funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 29, in Waconia, Minnesota.
