Lexi Jade Brown, 15, has been charged with attempted murder and arson, police say
A Mississippi teenager has been charged with attempted murder and first-degree arson after allegedly stabbing her mother several times and trying to set the house on fire.
Lexi Jade Brown, a 15-year-old, was arrested after police arrived at a Gulfport, Mississippi, residence early on Friday morning, June 14. The authorities were responding to a call about a stabbing incident, and they found a woman with multiple stab wounds.
Investigators revealed that the victim woke up to find Brown stabbing her while she was still in bed. Following the attack, Brown allegedly tried to start a fire inside the home.
During the investigation, Brown allegedly provided police with a shocking reason for her actions. She allegedly claimed she planned to kill her mother because she considered her mom to be a “weird b—-.” Additionally, Brown stated that she believed her mother was “suppressing the black in her,” although the statement did not offer further clarification on this point.
Brown is currently being held at an adult detention facility on a $1.25 million bond. In Mississippi, juveniles aged 13 and over are tried as adults for serious criminal offenses.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to contact the Gulfport Police Department at 228-868-5959 or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898.
