Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones Selling $12 Million New York Home After Kids ‘Left the Nest’

“It seems like the right time to sell,” Zeta-Jones told ‘The Wall Street Journal’ of their new phase of life.

Longtime Hollywood couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are ready to part with their luxurious New York residence now that their children have left home.

The Ant-Man star, 79, and Wednesday actress, 54, have put their sprawling 11,653 square-foot riverfront estate in Irvington, New York, on the market for $12 million.

Zeta-Jones bought their elegant estate, known as Longmeadow, in 2019 for $4.5 million, according to public records.

In her statement to ‘The Wall Street Journal,’ Zeta-Jones reflected, “When I purchased our Irvington home I knew our family would share many happy times here, and we have!”

She added, “Now that both our son and daughter have left the nest it seems like the right time to sell.”

The couple share two children: son Dylan, 23, and daughter Carys, 21. They’re also planning to spend more time abroad given Zeta-Jones’ work commitments.

“Michael and I plan to spend more time in Bermuda and Europe,” she told the Journal.

Listed by David Turner at Compass on June 17, the colonial-style home is described as “a spectacular property” and a “true Hudson River estate.”

Turner highlighted the elegant renovations, saying, “The owner has done a masterful job in renovating the house in a cool, comfortable, and modern aesthetic that preserves its original grandeur and integrity.”

Located approximately 20 miles from Manhattan, the four-story estate rests on a 12-acre property in Irvington’s prestigious Matthiessen Park.

Douglas and Zeta-Jones have meticulously restored each room, including 12 bathrooms and 8 en-suite bedrooms. The home’s highlights include a formal living room with a fireplace, a salon with a built-in bar, and a wood-paneled study with a stunning, two-story library.

An indoor loggia on the first floor opens to a 100-foot outdoor terrace with panoramic river views. An elegant staircase leads to lush gardens and a charming outdoor lounge area on the ground floor.

Among its many recreational highlights, the lower level features a gym, a summer kitchen, multiple play rooms, a gas fireplace, and a heated indoor pool.

Before moving to Irvington, the couple resided in Bedford, NY. Zeta-Jones bought that residence for $11.25 million in 2014 and later sold it for $20.5 million.

The Wall Street Journal also reported that Douglas listed their Manhattan residence on Central Park West for $21.5 million a few years ago but has since taken it off the market.
