Billy Ray Cyrus, 62, files for divorce from Firerose, 37, after 7 months of marriage

Billy Ray Cyrus’ marriage to his younger wife, Firerose, took the internet by storm. Now, just seven months after they said ‘I do,’ it seems like the couple is calling it quits.

Country singer Billy Ray Cyrus has filed for divorce from his wife of seven months, Firerose. The couple tied the knot in October 2023, and now the 62-year-old has filed for divorce from Firerose, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodges.

The documents submitted to the court cite irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct as the reasons for the divorce. In fact, Cyrus is seeking an annulment of the marriage on the basis of fraud. There are currently no details on what he means by ‘fraud.’

It was noted by media outlets that the couple no longer follows each other on Instagram.

TMZ was the first outlet to break the news of the impending divorce.

The couple had previously shared how they knew one another. They were friends for years before they began writing songs together during the COVID-19 pandemic. They started dating in 2022 and subsequently became engaged before tying the knot in October 2023.

“10/10/23 will always be the beautiful, joyous day that our two souls united as one in holy matrimony,” they wrote in a joint post on social media at the time. “It was the most perfect, ethereal celebration of love we could have ever imagined.”

The couple has released songs together, including “New Day,” “Time,” “Plans,” and “After the Storm.” They spoke about the track “After the Storm” as being a hopeful song that resonated with them personally. Cyrus described it as a “powerful and timely” song.

Firerose added, “Only by the grace of God did I survive my darkest nights. There is so much truth in these lyrics and it’s my purpose to help others find strength in their toughest hours.”

In August 2023, the couple even appeared on Good Morning America to perform their song ‘Plans’ together.

“We’re kind of like … it’s a peanut butter and jelly,” Cyrus mused about their relationship. “I’m a left-handed singer-songwriter from Flatwoods, Kentucky, and she’s a trained orchestral musician.”

Firerose added, “It has been a beautiful whirlwind and I’m just so grateful that I get to live my dreams every day with the love of my life.”

In February, Cyrus celebrated his wife’s birthday by posting about her and writing that she is the “beautiful love of my life.”

Firerose also marked their six-month wedding anniversary this past April by posting a picture from their wedding and writing in the caption, “Six months ago I married this man. 🤍 Life isn’t always easy… but it sure helps when your husband’s also your best friend. Thank you, Lord!”

This is not Cyrus’ first marriage. He was previously married to Tish Cyrus for 28 years. He shares five children with his ex-wife, including Miley Cyrus, Noah Cyrus, Brandi Cyrus, and sons Trace and Braison Cyrus.

Billy Ray also has an older son, Christopher Cody, with Kristen Luckey, who he was in a relationship with before meeting Tish.

This news is quite surprising, especially considering that just over a month ago, Firerose was posting to celebrate their six months of marriage. What do you think of this update? Let us know your thoughts!
