Valerie Bertinelli Snuggles with Boyfriend Mike Goodnough During Their Red Carpet Debut at the Daytime Emmys 2024

The celebrity chef’s now-canceled series ‘Valerie’s Home Cooking’ is nominated for two Daytime Emmy Awards

Valerie Bertinelli and her boyfriend Mike Goodnough have made their red carpet debut!

On June 7, the beloved television personality, who is up for two Daytime Emmys this year, proudly walked the red carpet holding hands with her boyfriend, Mike Goodnough.

While on the red carpet, Goodnough expressed his happiness and pride to be accompanying Bertinelli.

“It feels great,” he said. “There’s nothing better than watching someone you love get the recognition they deserve.”

At 63, the celebrity chef is nominated for outstanding culinary host for her show, ‘Valerie’s Home Cooking,’ which, despite its cancellation, remains beloved by fans. She shares the category with notable names like Lidia Bastianich, Emeril Lagasse, Eduardo Garcia, Sophia Roe, and Buddy Valastro. Additionally, her series has been nominated for outstanding culinary series.

Goodnough, who is known by his online alias ‘Hoarse Whisperer,’ took to Instagram a day before the awards to share his excitement about being Bertinelli’s plus-one.

In a heartfelt video—his fifteenth take, according to him—he expressed how ecstatic he was to see Bertinelli get the recognition she earned.

“Valerie poured her heart and soul into that show,” he said, calling the nominations a “well-deserved recognition” for her dedication and hard work.

In the caption of his Instagram post, he added, “Tomorrow and Saturday, I get to be Valerie’s ‘and guest’ at the awards ceremony… and I couldn’t be happier.”

Bertinelli’s Emmy nominations were announced on April 19th, nearly a year after ‘Valerie’s Home Cooking’ was canceled. In April 2023, she had shared the news on Instagram, announcing that the 14th season of her show would be its last. Despite the cancellation, she expressed a hope that Food Network might reconsider.

In an April 2024 interview, Bertinelli candidly shared her feelings about the cancellation. “It hurt, but I know it’s just business. I really loved my job,” she confessed.

The Daytime Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on June 7 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. It’s also available for live streaming and on-demand viewing on Paramount+.
