Levi Wright, the 3-year-old son of rodeo star Spencer Wright and mom Kallie Wright, has sadly died. Levi had been in critical condition since driving his toy tractor into a Utah river on May 21.
On Sunday, June 2, Levi passed away after being removed from life support, confirms family friend Mindy Sue Clark. “Levi was an absolute joy. Navigating life without him will be tough,” Clark says.
Clark added, “I cannot even begin to explain how hard the last two weeks have been. From the moment my phone rang the night of his accident, to last night receiving the message that he had to go.”
She continued, “I don’t want to focus on the sad parts, even though it feels like someone ripped my heart out and squeezed it right in front of me. I want to remember the miracles we witnessed during those 12 days. Thousands, if not millions, surrounded Levi with prayers and love.”
Clark recalled Levi as “the most perfect three-year-old there ever was.”
“He brought so many people together. In a world that’s so dark, we got to see light from a child. He was everything his mom and dad could have wanted him to be,” she said. “I’m so thankful for the time I got to be his ‘aunt Mindy.’ That’s a blessing I will never forget. I’m also thankful my last visit to Utah included doing s’mores with the kids. It’s something they’d talked about all day.”
Kallie Wright shared on June 2 that the family would be “letting him [Levi] go.”
“We will miss him every second of every day, but we feel it’s the best thing we can do for him,” she said. “We love you, baby beans, and I can’t wait till the day you can ‘work the ground’ with me again!”
Kallie’s announcement came days after she posted on May 30 that Levi was back under sedation after “not handling” being weaned off of it.
“Levi is our number one priority,” she added. “We are having many conversations a day with doctors, rehabs, neurologists to better serve him.”
According to a May 21 statement from the Beaver County Sheriff’s Office, authorities responded to a call about the incident involving 3-year-old Levi. They reported that Levi drove his toy tractor into the river.
“Life-saving measures were administered on the scene,” the sheriff’s office said, noting that Levi was taken to Beaver Valley Hospital and then airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.
On May 26, Kallie wrote in a Facebook post that the family was “taking it day by day” after being “shattered” by Levi’s MRI results.
She also expressed gratitude to the medical staff, saying, “Whether it’s time for a miracle or for us to learn and process, every decision that Levi’s Dad and I make will be based on what we believe he would want. He comes first in all this.”
