It’s always heartening when everyday folks go the extra mile to aid animals in distress. Recently, a truck driver spotted a kitten stranded on a busy highway and took swift action to ensure its safety.

On May 12, Officer Stanfield of the Alachua Police Department in Florida encountered a kitten lying in the center of Highway 441.

According to a Facebook post from the department, numerous vehicles passed by, barely missing the small cat. However, one attentive driver decided to step in and make a difference.

This driver, employed by the local Mi Apá Latin Cafe, pulled over and halted traffic. His actions facilitated the police, who promptly arrived and escorted the kitten off the road to safety.

This uplifting rescue was documented on bodycam footage and shared by the police department on May 22:

The video has garnered over 56,000 views on Facebook, with many applauding the truck driver and officers for their heroic deed, hailing them as “true heroes.”

Mi Apá Latin Cafe also chimed in to commend their employee: “We have the best officers in Alachua, and our drivers always know what the priority is.”

To top it all off, the story concludes with a happy twist: the kitten was adopted by one of the department’s dispatchers!

“We’re thrilled to share that this little furball has found a loving forever home,” announced the department on Facebook.
