‘When Calls the Heart’ Actor Mamie Laverock on Life Support After Sustaining Injuries in Five-Story Fall from Balcony

‘When Calls the Heart’ stars Erin Krakow and Johannah Newmarch are seeking support for their co-star Mamie Laverock through a GoFundMe campaign to aid her recovery.

Mamie Laverock, beloved for her role in When Calls the Heart, is currently in a critical condition after falling from a balcony five stories high. The unfortunate incident took place on May 11.

Her mother, Nicole Compton, quickly transported her to a hospital in Winnipeg due to a serious medical emergency. Following initial treatment, she was moved to a Vancouver hospital. The journey ahead is expected to be long, with doctors indicating that Laverock may need to stay for a month or more. Though the recovery path is still uncertain, encouraging signs of improvement are present.

Recently, a heart-wrenching update was posted on the family’s GoFundMe page, revealing that Laverock sustained life-threatening injuries when she fell from a secure unit’s balcony walkway. She has undergone several extensive surgeries and is currently on life support. Her parents, Rob and Nicole, expressed their shock and devastation over the situation.

In response to the tragedy, When Calls the Heart star Erin Krakow reached out to her Instagram followers, asking them to contribute to the GoFundMe campaign to assist Laverock’s family. “💔 I just donated. If you can, please consider doing the same,” Krakow wrote.

Johannah Newmarch, who portrays Laverock’s on-screen mother, also shared her support on social media, expressing her sorrow and urging people to help out. “I love this family, my heart is broken. This is a devastating time for all who care for Mamie. Please help if you can,” Newmarch posted.

Hallmark Media, producing the show When Calls the Heart, also shared their condolences and well-wishes. “We are deeply saddened by the news about Mamie. As a cherished member of our community, we wish her and her family peace, comfort, and many prayers during this challenging time,” a spokesperson commented.

Before her time on When Calls the Heart, Laverock’s first professional acting job was in the 2012 film This Means War, starring Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, and Tom Hardy. While her scene did not make the final cut, she described the experience as unforgettable.

In When Calls the Heart, Laverock played the recurring role of Rosaleen Sullivan, a nursing student, during the show’s first two seasons. Her portrayal earned her the Young Artists Award for best performance in a TV series in 2015. She recently reprised this role in the 10th season aired in 2023.

Apart from her celebrated role in When Calls the Heart, Laverock has also appeared in several other productions, including the Hallmark original Wedding of Dreams, the horror film The Hollow Child, Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Lifetime’s Spotlight on Christmas.

When Calls the Heart airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on the Hallmark Channel.
