Lady Gaga has given fans a sneak peek into what they can expect from her upcoming role in ‘Joker: Folie à Deux.’
The 38-year-old singer and actress spoke warmly with Access Hollywood during her Gaga Chromatica Ball screening and dance party on May 23. She shed some light on her collaboration with Joaquin Phoenix for the eagerly awaited sequel.
“My version of Harley is mine, and it’s very genuine to this movie and these characters,” Gaga explained. “I don’t want to spoil anything from the film, so you’ll have to see it in the theater.”
“This film features music, dance, and incredible acting,” she continued. “Working with Joaquin and [director] Todd [Phillips] was a joy. I can honestly say I’ve never done anything like this before, so it’s all new and really fun.”
‘Folie à Deux,’ a sequel to Phoenix’s 2019 ‘Joker’ film directed by Todd Phillips, marks an exciting milestone. Harley Quinn will be portrayed in live action for the first time since Margot Robbie embodied a different version of the character in ‘Suicide Squad’ (2016), ‘The Suicide Squad’ (2021), and ‘Birds of Prey’ (2020). Harley Quinn originally appeared in the acclaimed 1992 cartoon ‘Batman: The Animated Series.’
Gaga confirmed her casting in the upcoming movie back in August 2022 and was seen filming her scenes in New York City throughout 2023. Todd Phillips announced that filming had wrapped up on Instagram in April 2023, and the film’s first trailer was showcased at CinemaCon on April 9.

The initial trailer teases enchanting musical sequences and the first encounter between Gaga’s character and Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck, also known as the Joker. When Gaga shared the movie’s poster for the first time on April 2, she captioned it, “The world is a stage.”
This film marks Gaga’s return to the big screen since her role in 2021’s ‘House of Gucci.’ Before that, she starred in 2018’s critically acclaimed ‘A Star Is Born.’
‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ will hit theaters on October 4.
