Even though ‘This Is Us’ ended in 2022, Milo Ventimiglia is still playing the role of a supportive TV dad!
On Tuesday, May 21, the 46-year-old actor attended the graduation of Niles Fitch (who played Randall Pearson) from the University of Southern California. He wasn’t alone; Hannah Zeile (who played Kate Pearson) also joined in the celebration.
In a photo shared on Instagram Stories, the trio captured a candid moment. Fitch donned his graduation attire and gazed into the distance, Ventimiglia had a serious expression, while Zeile beamed at the camera.
Hannah Zeile also posted a celebratory snap on her Instagram Stories. This time, everyone was grinning with pride as Ventimiglia held Fitch’s diploma behind his back. She captioned the post, “Congratulations @nilesfitch,” followed by a series of emojis including a graduation cap, champagne bottle, crossed fingers, and a red heart.
‘This Is Us’ aired on NBC from September 2016 to May 2022. The series centered around siblings Kevin (Justin Hartley), Kate (Chrissy Metz), and Randall (Sterling K. Brown), and their parents Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Jack (Milo Ventimiglia). The show spanned multiple timelines, featuring present-day stories, flashbacks to childhood, and flash-forwards to future events.
While Ventimiglia continues his role as a loving TV dad off screen, he has shared how his own father influenced his portrayal of Jack Pearson on ‘This Is Us.’
In a February 2023 appearance on ‘The View’, Ventimiglia said, “My mom and dad are wonderful people. My father and Jack Pearson were of the same era, both born in the 1940s, both Vietnam vets, and I saw in Jack the way that my father was with my sisters and me.”
He added, “What I also saw was an opportunity with the way he was to just kind of be a version of my dad, and the big three were actually me. So, anything I did was mostly looking up to my dad.”
To channel his dad’s caring and strong persona, Ventimiglia kept a touching memento on set. “In my trailer, I had a photo of my dad and me when I was a little kid. It said, ‘Be a good husband, be a good father.’ I looked at that every day to get in the right mindset,” he shared.
