Ryan Reynolds Teases Name of 4th Baby with Nod to Taylor Swift: ‘We Always Wait for Taylor to Tell Us’

The ‘IF’ star joked about Swift including his and Blake’s Lively’s kids’ names in her music when asked about their fourth child on the ‘Today’ show.

The name of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s fourth baby remains a mystery!

While appearing on the Today show on Monday, May 13, the IF actor teased the newest member of the couple’s family, when Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb inquired about the child’s name.

“Taylor Swift keeps dropping it into lyrics!” said Guthrie, likely referring to Swift’s song “Betty” from the 14-time Grammy winner’s 2020 album Folklore, which includes his older three kids’ names.

After Guthrie asked Reynolds, 47, whether the new baby’s name is anywhere on Swift’s new album The Tortured Poets Department, he joked, “We always wait for Taylor to tell us what the child’s name is, and I’ll say this: We’re still waiting.”

The father of four went on to quip of Swift, 34, “She’s a prolific writer — I mean, what are we doing here? And ‘lazy’ is not a word I’d attach to Taylor.”

“Betty” not only features the name of Reynolds and Lively’s third child Betty, 4½, but also her older sisters Ines, 7½, and James, 9. The pair went on to announce they were expecting their fourth child in September 2022, and had welcomed the newest addition by February 2023.

Reynolds previously said they kept their girls’ names in “Betty” a secret from them until the track was finished, saying in a SiriusXM Town Hall interview back in August 2021, “We surprised them with it.”

He went on to joke, “We don’t tell them anything; we find they’re most compliant if you offer them no access to outside information.”

While Reynolds and Lively, 36, have not shared details about their youngest child, Reynolds noted during a November 2022 interview on the Today show that he and his wife “never find out” the sex of their children ” ’til [they’re born].”

The following June, Reynolds mentioned their fourth child when he announced his new series Bedtime Stories with Ryan on social media.

In the Instagram post, the father of four shared a video that featured him preparing to read a book to a pair of animatronic sheep and a clip of him relaxing on a rooftop.

In the caption, Reynolds wrote that “the idea for a show made to help everyone fall asleep was born the same day as my fourth child.”

IF is in theaters Friday, May 17.
