Will Smith Reveals How Bad Boys 4 Had to ‘Shoot Around’ Pregnant Vanessa Hudgens’ Baby Bump

Will Smith shared some heartwarming details about the challenges and joys of working with his pregnant co-star, Vanessa Hudgens, on the set of Bad Boys 4. Despite the obstacles, Smith’s supportive words kept spirits high during the shoot.

Will Smith had sweet words of encouragement for his Bad Boys: Ride or Die costar Vanessa Hudgens when filming got complicated amid her pregnancy.

Filming on the fourth installment of the action-comedy franchise began in March 2023, but was halted during the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike, which lasted six months until November 2023.

Hudgens, 35, first revealed her baby bump at the Oscars in March 2024. Will Smith, 55, mentioned to Entertainment Tonight that resuming filming after the strike posed some logistical challenges due to her pregnancy.

Trying to work around Hudgens’ baby bump required some creative solutions. Smith said, “when she came back, we had to figure out how to shoot around [the bump].” The Men in Black star expressed admiration for Hudgens, describing her as “a hard worker.”

Smith recalled offering Hudgens words of support during the more strenuous shoots. “I was like, ‘No, don’t worry. You’ll always be able to tell your child that they were in this scene with you,’” he told ET. Such moments bonded the cast even closer.

Vanessa Hudgens is expecting her first child with her husband Cole Tucker, a baseball player, whom she married in December 2023. Though balancing her career and pregnancy presented some hurdles, Hudgens pushed through with determination and support from her co-stars.

Hudgens recently shared with Bustle why she decided to skip the Coachella music festival. “The walking is aggressive,” she said. “It’s a lot of walking,” added the mom-to-be, reflecting on the physical demands of both the festival and her filming schedule. Nevertheless, she remains enthusiastic about her upcoming projects.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is set to hit theaters on June 7, 2024. Fans eagerly await the next chapter of the beloved franchise, excited to see how the storyline unfolds with the dynamic cast.
