When Peter first noticed the strange holes in his thumb, he was taken aback. He had no idea what had happened or how dangerous it may have been.
But he soon realizes. That afternoon, he went to the doctor, but when he looked at it, he noticed that the news for Peter was not good.
The doctor swiftly called the police after determining what was going on…
Peter was simply abandoned without explanation. When the doctor saw the results of his tests, he immediately contacted the police and departed the room, leaving him alone. As he realized how serious this was, Peter began to panic.
When Peter saw the doctor had closed the door behind him, he became pale. He started hammering on the door with his entire weight, hoping to break it open. And it gave way after a few hits. He was now confronted with the doctors who had imprisoned him…
40-year-old Peter was single. He had previously dated, but it had never gone well. He hoped that this time would be different. He’d spent a considerable amount of time preparing for the date. He hoped for the best because it was their first in-person meeting, but not everything would go as planned.
Peter’s thumb was pocked with tiny holes. He assumed that something had become stuck on his thumb, but as he brought it closer to him, he noticed that the holes were piercing into his skin. He massaged it with his other fingers, which made it ache much more. There was something wrong, but what was it?
Peter decided to extricate whatever was in his thumb with tweezers. He walked to the restroom and took out his tweezers, but he paused before digging into his thumb. He had no idea what he was dealing with. This could make things worse, but he had to do something.
The doctor’s office scheduled a semi-urgent appointment for that afternoon. They informed him that there would be others ahead of him, but they would see him by the end of the day at the very latest. Meanwhile, the doctor advised Peter to do something for him.
Peter reflected on the previous week. He hadn’t done anything particularly unusual. He went on a hike through the woods a few days ago. He may have easily touched something out there previously. Perhaps a mushroom or a piece of infected moss? That might be an option…maybe?
The night before, Peter had gone on a date. He’d been communicating online with the woman for a long and had finally decided to go on a date with her. Peter was eager to resume his dating life. He hadn’t found his partner yet and was hoping that this date would go well. Things would eventually take an unexpected turn.
The doctor ordered tests for Peter and scrutinized his thumb intently as they awaited the findings. The peculiar thing was that while Peter had previously felt agony, he no longer did. His entire thumb was paralyzed. When the doctor pushed on it, it didn’t even hurt. This was a warning sign.
The doctor kept looking at Peter’s thumb, and he was unhappy when the first results came back. The tests he’d requested had turned up nothing. He could have done more, but he needed Peter’s approval. It would consume a significant amount of Peter’s time. What would his reaction be?
Peter agreed to the examinations, and after a battery of testing, it was discovered that a plant was to blame for everything. The authorities had kept everyone off the trail after a thorough search and discovered a plant that was not native to the area. It was examined and determined to be the source of Peter’s problem. It was uprooted and destroyed. There haven’t been any cases afterward, and Peter was better and able to go on dates again within a month.
