Kurt Russell and his son, Wyatt Russell, may be teaming up to fight monsters in their new series, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” but when it comes to the holidays, they are all about family. In an interview with Fox News Digital, the father-son duo shared their unique Christmas connection and what they have learned from each other on set.
“We had to work together to create this character because it wasn’t written for us. So, we took it upon ourselves to make it work,” Kurt explained. He even took a day off to watch Wyatt in action and gain inspiration from his work. He praised his son’s talent and admitted that he learned a lot from him.
As the youngest of four children, Wyatt also shared some valuable advice from his dad. He emphasized the importance of pursuing something you genuinely love and not letting others dictate your path. Wyatt also touched on the idea of surrendering control when collaborating with others and being open to their input.
Holidays in the Russell-Hawn household are especially festive, thanks to their big family and their roles as Santa and Mrs. Claus in the “Christmas Chronicles” films on Netflix. Kurt revealed that the characters of Santa and Mrs. Claus were inspired by his own family and the joy of spending time with his kids. He emphasized how magical Goldie Hawn is as Mrs. Claus and how much it means to him to create something that will be cherished by future generations.
The couple, who are proud grandparents of seven, are thrilled to have their loved ones close by. Wyatt, who is expecting his second child with his wife, Meredith, appreciates his parents’ dedication to being the best grandparents possible. He also praised his in-laws for their investment in their grandkids’ lives.
Despite their lighthearted banter, Kurt and Wyatt share a deep appreciation for their family and the love they have for each other. They consider themselves incredibly lucky to have such a close-knit and supportive family.
It’s heartwarming to see a famous Hollywood family come together and celebrate the magic of the holidays while also supporting each other in their careers. They remind us that family is truly the greatest gift of all.
