8-Year-Old Boy Fatally Shot By Father While Attempting To Shield His Mother From Bullet

An 8-year-old boy tragically lost his life earlier this month after being shot by his father during a late-night altercation at their home in Minnesota. This heart-wrenching incident occurred on June 5, just before midnight.

When officers from the Burnsville Police Department arrived at the scene, they found the young boy and an adult man with gunshot wounds. They were rushed to the hospital, but sadly, the child could not be saved.

Cherish Edwards, the grieving mother of the child, shared online that her son, Amir Harden, was shot by his own father, Danair Harden, aged 30, while trying to protect her. Cherish believes that Danair was attempting to kill her, and her brave son stepped in to shield her from harm.

Danair Harden is currently in critical condition from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, as reported by hospital officials.

Investigators believe that the shooting took place inside the family home and that Amir was not the intended target.

Danair Harden had been arrested previously on May 30 for allegedly assaulting Cherish. Despite being released on bail, he violated a court order to stay away from her, leading to this tragic confrontation.

Court documents reveal that Cherish was attempting to end their decade-long relationship when she was choked by Danair. She confided to the authorities that Danair had been abusive in the past, and she feared for her safety.

This devastating event was witnessed by four of Amir’s siblings, adding to the trauma and heartbreak for the family.

The investigation is ongoing, and charges against Danair Harden may be pursued if he survives his injuries.
