Twins hold a special place in the hearts of many, but it’s still rare to encounter them. Only about 33 out of every 1,000 births result in twins, with identical siblings accounting for just three to four sets out of every thousand births.
When Savannah Combs received the news that she was expecting twins, her joy knew no bounds. Despite the unexpected twist that both children had Down syndrome, Savannah’s love for her growing family remained unwavering. The added workload didn’t faze her devotion.
As Savannah embraced her journey, she faced heartbreaking news—doctors predicted that her twins, Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, wouldn’t live long. Although disapproval from some people seemed inevitable, Savannah couldn’t have been prouder of her children.
In an interview with News4JAX, Savannah lovingly referred to her twins as “her little diamonds.” She shared videos of her postpartum experience on TikTok, instantly captivating an audience. However, what made their story even more remarkable was that doctors had advised Savannah to abort the pregnancy due to their diagnoses.
From the moment she discovered her twins had Down syndrome, Savannah cherished every moment spent with them during her prenatal appointments. Despite her husband being away at boot camp during her pregnancy, Savannah remained resilient and delivered two stunning twin daughters at 29 weeks.
Though the initial diagnosis brought shock, Savannah made the courageous decision to love her daughters unconditionally and provide them with every opportunity they deserved. As time passed, Savannah continued to learn valuable lessons about love and life from her daughters.
The twins spent weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) due to their premature birth. Known as “mono di twins” because of their separate amniotic sacs but shared placenta, they are a perfect match in more ways than one. Being born with Down Syndrome, an occurrence that statistically happens in one out of every two million births, makes their connection even more unique.
Savannah is determined to show the world that, despite their atypical condition, her kids are just like any other children. With their strong emotions, beating hearts, and capacity for communication, she knows they will overcome any challenges life presents.

Unfortunately, social media is not always kind. Savannah had to confront rude comments about her disabled daughters. Some people even suggested they should have been given up for adoption. In response, Savannah showcased her wisdom and eloquence, emphasizing that she and her husband were the perfect parents for these babies. Above all, their love and acceptance were unwavering. Her post serves as a powerful reminder that compassion and love are the most important things in life.
