We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of actor Evan Ellingson, best known for his roles in CSI: Miami and My Sister’s Keeper. The 35-year-old actor was found dead in his home in Fontana, California on November 5th.
While the cause of death is yet to be determined, Ellingson’s family revealed that he had been battling addiction for a long time. Despite his struggles, Evan was known for his kind and caring nature, always wanting to use his own experiences to inspire and bring hope to others.
According to reports, Evan had been three years sober before recently relapsing due to being prescribed opioids after a dental procedure. His family shared that Evan had a sweet and child-like spirit, always thinking of others and wanting to make a difference in the lives of those struggling with addiction.
Their statement to NBC News expressed the deep sorrow and heartbreak they are feeling over the loss of their beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. Evan’s family wants the world to remember him as a loving individual who had a captivating smile that could light up any room.
While CSI: Miami and My Sister’s Keeper were Evan’s most well-known projects, they were not the beginning nor end of his acting journey. He had actually started his career with a small role in a TV movie and a guest appearance on General Hospital.
From there, Evan went on to star in various shows such as Titus, That Was Then, Mad TV, Complete Savages, Bones, and 24. However, prior to his untimely passing, he had not been in front of a camera for approximately ten years.
Abigail Breslin, Evan’s former co-star in My Sister’s Keeper, paid tribute to him, describing him as a kind, funny, and extremely talented person.
She fondly remembered how he played her big brother in the film, delivering performances that still give her chills. Evan was known for his energy, silliness, and love for life, always bringing positive vibes wherever he went.
