Actress Suzanne Somers’ cause of death has been revealed following her passing on October 15, 2022 in California at the age of 76. According to her death certificate, Somers died of breast cancer that had metastasized to the brain. She had been battling breast cancer for over 23 years prior to her death, which sadly occurred just one day before her 77th birthday on October 16.
A biopsy confirmed her cause of death, and although no autopsy was performed, the information was obtained from Somers’ death certificate. The certificate also listed hypertension (high blood pressure) and hydrocephalus as contributing underlying conditions.
Hypertension, which damages arteries over time, can lead to complications such as heart attacks and strokes. Hydrocephalus, on the other hand, is the excessive accumulation of cerebral spinal fluid within the brain, which can create harmful pressure on brain tissues.
Somers fought against hydrocephalus for more than a year and underwent a procedure in July 2022 to remove excess fluid from her brain using an intracerebral ventricular shunt, as stated on her death certificate.
Known for her role as Chrissy Snow on “Three’s Company,” Somers passed away surrounded by her loved ones earlier this month, according to a statement from her publicist. She was laid to rest at Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City, California on October 18.
