Jaden Smith, along with his parents Will and Jada Pinkett, sister Willow, and grandmother Adrienne Banfield-Norris, gathered on the latest episode of “Red Table Talk” to address some health issues that have been impacting their family.
During the conversation, 21-year-old Jaden revealed that he has been dealing with intense stomach problems and was determined to find a solution. To help him with his health journey, the family enlisted the expertise of Dr. Mark Hyman and nutritionist Mona Sharma.
Jaden expressed some hesitation about seeking guidance due to the criticism he faced when he adopted a vegan diet. He shared, “After the last episode, I walk in the street and people are like, ‘Oh my god! Are you sick? Can I pick you up? Could I get you some water?’ Come up to me like, ‘You can have my food, man.’” However, he recognized the need to prioritize his health and decided to move forward with the assessment.
During the episode, Dr. Hyman explained that Jaden’s health issues were a result of consuming the wrong types of food. He emphasized the importance of making dietary changes and incorporating supplements to address specific deficiencies.
Gluten and dairy were identified as problematic for Jaden, and considering his vegetarian lifestyle, there were concerns about vitamin and omega-3 deficiencies as well. Dr. Hyman assured Jaden that once his stomach issues were resolved and his diet was adjusted accordingly, he would regain his vitality and “rock the world.”
In September, Jaden’s extreme diet had raised concerns for his parents. Jaden revealed, “I was just eating, like, two meals a day. And maybe one… I was not doing good. I wasn’t looking good, I wasn’t feeling good, I wasn’t sleeping.”
His health took a turn for the worse while he was in Australia and he ended up hospitalized for nausea and dizziness, sparking deep worry within the family. Since then, Jaden has transitioned to a vegetarian diet, but his protein intake remained insufficient, prompting a concerned intervention from his parents.
The Smith family has always been open about their mental and physical health journey. Recently, Will even shared his colonoscopy experience, where a polyp was discovered and removed.
Will emphasized the importance of prioritizing one’s health, saying, “2019, gotta get our health right. There’s a certain amount of commitment and embarrassment involved with being healthy. Just gotta do it, man.
It’s important to me to be able to share this with people so, you know, other people can become compliant patients to stay healthy and happy to have all the glorious years we can possibly have.”
Through this candid conversation on “Red Table Talk,” Jaden Smith and his family have shown their commitment to addressing health issues head-on and sharing their experiences to inspire others on their own wellness journeys.
