The Dinner Tale: A Lesson in Humility

A woman was about to experience a nerve-wracking evening at her boyfriend’s parents’ home for dinner. It was the first time meeting them, and as you can imagine, her nerves were on edge. They gathered around the table for what was sure to be a delightful meal.

As the evening progressed, she started feeling a bit uncomfortable. The anxiety mixed with the meal, notably the broccoli casserole, was causing her some unpleasant gas pains. Trying to discreetly handle the situation, she decided to let out a gentle fart, hoping it wouldn’t draw any attention.

Although it was not loud, it was noticeable, marked by a soft “pouf” sound that caught everyone’s attention. Just before the flush of embarrassment could set in, she was relieved to find her boyfriend’s father directing his attention to the family dog lying by her feet. With a stern expression, he called out, “Skippy!” To her surprise and relief, everyone seemed to buy it.

Encouraged by this unexpected turn, a big smile spread across her face. However, as fate would have it, the gas pain returned a few minutes later, more insistent this time.

She didn’t hesitate and allowed herself to pass another, louder fart. Again, the father turned to the dog and, seeming more annoyed, exclaimed, “Dammit, Skippy!” The woman couldn’t help but smile once more, feeling thankful for the dog’s unintended cover.

The cycle continued, but this next episode was notably more intense. She didn’t hold back, this time unleashing a sound that might have rivaled the thunderous call of a train whistle. Yet again, the father fixed his gaze on Skippy in exasperation, but this time with a humorous twist, “Dammit Skippy, get away from her before she shits on you!”

It was a moment she would never forget, a mix of humor and humility at the dinner table, with Skippy unknowingly playing his part to perfection.
