Jennifer Aniston hits back at JD Vance’s viral ‘childless cat ladies’ comments

Jennifer Aniston, the beloved star of “The Morning Show,” has responded to recent viral comments made by Republican vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance regarding so-called “childless cat ladies.”

At age 55, Aniston took to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday to share her thoughts. She posted a screenshot of a social media post by Ron Filipkowski, editor-in-chief of the MeidasTouch Network, who shared a clip from a 2021 episode of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” featuring Vance.

The post read, “JD Vance says women who haven’t given birth like Kamala Harris are ‘childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives,’ and have ‘no direct stake’ in America.” This comment was made in a 28-second clip.

In response, Aniston wrote, “I truly can’t believe this is coming from a potential VP of the United States. All I can say is… Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day. I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”

What did JD Vance say about ‘childless cat ladies?’

The remarks by Vance were made during a conversation with Tucker Carlson on Fox News back in July 2021, when Vance was campaigning for Ohio’s U.S. Senate seat.

Vance commented, “We are effectively run in this country… by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made, and so they wanna make the rest of the country miserable, too. It’s just a basic fact. You look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez), the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children.”

He added, “And how does it make any sense that we’ve turned our country over to people who don’t really have a direct stake in it?”

It’s worth noting that Vice President Harris has two stepchildren with her husband, Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff. Meanwhile, Transportation Secretary Buttigieg and his husband Chasten welcomed twins weeks after Vance’s interview.

Jennifer Aniston said fertility struggles were a ‘challenging road’

In 2022, the “Friends” star opened up for the first time about her fertility struggles in Allure magazine.

“I was trying to get pregnant,” she shared, recounting her late 30s and 40s. “It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road.”

She added, “All the years and years and years of speculation… It was really hard. I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it. I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.’ You just don’t think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed.”

Aniston also addressed the societal pressure she faced, saying, “I just cared about my career. And God forbid a woman is successful and doesn’t have a child. And the reason my husband left me, why we broke up and ended our marriage, was because I wouldn’t give him a kid. It was absolute lies. I don’t have anything to hide at this point.”

Jennifer was married to Brad Pitt from 2000 to 2005 and Justin Theroux from 2015 to 2017.
