Michael Strahan’s Daughter Isabella, 19, Reveals She’s Cancer-Free: ‘Goodbye Hospital’

“Cancer-free and everything is great,” said Isabella, 19, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in October 2023.

Isabella Strahan is officially cancer-free!

On Thursday, July 18, the 19-year-old daughter of Good Morning America’s Michael Strahan posted an update to her YouTube series. She’s been candidly sharing her health journey after undergoing emergency surgery in October 2023 to remove a large medulloblastoma — a type of malignant tumor — from her cerebellum.

Isabella opened up about how much pain she experienced the day after having the port — implanted in her neck and stomach — removed.

“My side hurts a lot. It feels like I got stabbed. I was like, ‘Oh, it doesn’t hurt that much.’ I think it’s because all of the stuff wore off… I can’t stand up straight,” she said, wincing in discomfort. “I also feel like the tube was going into my heart because my heart started cramping. I don’t know if that’s supposed to happen but it’s not enjoyable.”

“It definitely doesn’t feel great,” she added, showing her bandaged incision.

Isabella later received an MRI and arrived at what she hoped would be her final doctor’s appointment to review her scans. She was all smiles when she shared the good news that she is now cancer-free, eight months after her initial diagnosis.

“It was a great, great scan,” she said joyfully. “Everything was clear. Cancer-free and everything is great. I don’t have another doctor’s appointment until October.”

“I miss my doctors already and everyone who’s helped me because they’re all so nice,” she continued. “I feel a bit saddened today knowing that I won’t be going back for a while because I love them so much. So, this was my last hospital vlog until October!”

Last month, Isabella celebrated the conclusion of her cancer treatment journey. Since her diagnosis, she endured six weeks of radiation, four rounds of chemotherapy, and three brain surgeries.

In a vlog posted on June 16, Isabella rang the hospital bell, surrounded by her family and friends who cheered her on with balloons, bubbles, and homemade posters.

“Ring the bell three times well. It’s a toll to clearly say my treatment is done, this course is run and I’m on my way!” Isabella said, beaming with happiness.

Michael Strahan shared his pride on Instagram, “@isabellastrahan you are a SUPERWOMAN! Ringing that bell, finishing chemo and on your way! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾,” Strahan wrote. “You continue to fight with a smile on your face, strength, and determination. I am one proud Dad! Love you, Bella ❤️❤️”
