The ‘American Horror Story’ star announced her engagement to the actor on Instagram July 16
Emma Roberts is ready to tie the knot!
The ‘American Horror Story’ star, 33, shared the happy news on Instagram this past Tuesday, July 16, revealing her engagement to fellow actor Cody John.
“Putting this here before my mom tells everyone ❤️,” Roberts humorously captioned a photo of the couple smiling together as she showed off her engagement ring.
This announcement seems to be a playful nod to her mom, Kelly Cunningham, who famously shared a photo of Emma’s son Rhodes, 3, earlier this year on social media without giving her a heads-up.
“When your mom posts your son’s face without asking but you love them both so whatever,” Roberts joked on her Instagram Stories back on February 9 when she reshared her mom’s photo of Rhodes.
John, known for his roles in Hulu’s ‘Wu-Tang: An American Saga’ and The CW’s ‘In the Dark’, went public with their romance in August 2022. He marked the occasion by posting a heartwarming photo of himself kissing Roberts on Instagram, captioned with a simple “sweet sweet”.
Later that year, Roberts made their relationship Instagram official by sharing a photo of the two holding hands. “#2022 I loved you ❤️ happy new year hotties!” she wrote in the caption on New Year’s Eve.
In January 2023, the couple was spotted sharing a kiss in New York City, and a few months later, they were seen walking hand-in-hand in Los Angeles.
“I never want to talk about relationships I’m in or that are ending or have ended. It’s hard enough to be with someone by yourself, let alone with an audience,” Roberts previously shared with Cosmopolitan, explaining her choice to keep her love life private.
While the exact details of how Roberts and John first met remain unclear, a source informed E! News that they were introduced through mutual friends.
“She’s been very content with Cody, and they’re enjoying their relationship and time together,” the source said. “Their friends and family are happy for the both of them and think they make a great couple.”
In February 2023, John celebrated Roberts’ birthday with an Instagram post dedicated to her. “Happy birthday sheesh 🫠🫠,” he wrote alongside a sweet picture of her.
