The actors, who starred in the 2022 smash hit ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, met up in London on Monday, July 8
Tom Cruise and Glen Powell are back together again!
On Monday, July 8, Powell, 35, shared a photo of himself reunited with his Top Gun: Maverick co-star Cruise, 62, as the actor came out to support him at the London premiere of his new film Twisters.
“When your wingman follows you into the storm … 😎🌪️🇬🇧,” Powell wrote in the caption, referring to Cruise.
The Hit Man star was snapped with his arm around Cruise inside the screening of Twisters for the premiere, which took place at London’s Cineworld Leicester Square, as the pair held buckets of popcorn.
Powell’s sighting with Cruise comes two years after he appeared in his breakout role as Lt. Jake “Hangman” Seresin alongside Cruise as Navy officer Pete Mitchell in the smash hit Top Gun sequel.
Following its May 2022 release after a series of delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film made almost $1.5 billion globally at the box office and became the fifth-highest-grossing movie of all time in the U.S.
In January, it was reported that a third installment of the movie franchise was in talks following the success of Maverick, per The Hollywood Reporter. Powell briefly addressed his involvement in the rumored sequel while speaking at a panel for Hit Man at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, stating simply, “That is all classified.”
In August 2022, Powell shared: “There’s definitely been conversations [but] it’s above my pay grade. It’s really up to Tom. It’s up to [producer Jerry Bruckheimer]. It’s up to all the powers that be, but if they call me back to Miramar, I’ll be there,” he added.
Powell developed a close friendship with Cruise following their time working together on Top Gun: Maverick — earning him a spot on the exclusive list of actors who get to receive a cake from the actor every year.
“It is the most delicious cake you’ve ever had,” Powell said on the The Jennifer Hudson Show in November 2022.
“My friends who have tried it, they love it so much that they hit me up right around Dec. 1. ‘Hey, has it arrived yet?’ So now I have a party at my house where I’ll have the Cruise cake. It’s my ‘Cruise Cake Party.’ And I’ll invite people over to try a bite or two … [they] can’t get greedy. I really have to limit people. I can’t let them come back for seconds.”
